Baby Jack Has Arrived!

John Robert "Jack" Saunders IV arrived on April 16, 2010 at 1:28 p.m. He was 7 lbs. 6 oz. and was 20 inches long. We think that he's just perfect and we couldn't be happier!

Here's a little summary of when I went into labor if you haven't heard this already:

All day at work on Thursday, April 15th I thought that I was having a bit of indigestion. I didn't think too much of it and I honestly thought that it was just something that I had eaten that didn't settle quite right. The "indigestion" just got progressively worse as the day went on. By the time that I got home from work about 6:00 I was pretty uncomfortable. Finally, at about 10:00 John convinced me that this was NOT indigestion and to call the hospital (I am pretty stubborn sometimes!). I called the emergency line and the nurse said to grab our bags immediately and to head to the hospital. John timed my contractions on the way to the hospital and they were about 5 minutes apart. I think that John thoroughly enjoyed being able to drive down Hwy. 280 with the flashers on since we had an "emergency"! Ha ha!

We arrived at the hospital about 11:00 and they had a room ready for us. Jack was finally delivered via c-section after a few hours of pushing. Little Jack just wasn't making much progress and the safest way to deliver him was via c-section. It was a long and TIRING process, but, well worth every minute!

On another note, Jack is 3 weeks old today! Time flies when you're having fun! John was off of work the first week after we got home to help, which was great. Mom came to Birmingham the second week to help us - I miss her being here! I told her that she should quit her job and we could hire her as our nanny! :) We wish that she could stay with us all of the time! I can't even begin to tell you what a huge help she was that week!

This week was my first week alone with Jack during the day and it went very well. We had lots of visitors this week (Jordan, Ellen, Cheryl, Christine D., Christine P., Simon and Maria), so, that was great. We really enjoyed seeing everyone and getting a few really good lunches!

We made our first trip to the pediatrician on Tuesday (thanks to the help of my mother-in-law, Miss Virginia, she was a huge help!). The doctor said that he was VERY pleased with how healthy Jack was. He was shocked at how much weight he had gained (he's now 8lbs. 11oz.), but, he said that was wonderful! Keep up the good work Jack!

Despite not getting much sleep, we are all starting to adjust pretty well with our new little family. Everyday gets a little easier!

Here are a few pictures that were taken over the last few weeks http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=169994&id=551288370&l=ba381e4d73 .

I started this blog so that our out of town family could keep up with what's going on with Jack - Especially since he's growing so fast!

I hope to be able to post regularly...I'll do my best! :)
