Jack had his 9 month check-up on 1/19/11. Here are some of his stats from the check-up:
Weight: 22 lbs. 6 oz. (between percentile 75 and 90)
Height: 28 inches (between percentile 25 and 50)
Head Circumference: 19 inches (above 95th percentile)
He has a HUGE head! The doctor just said that means he has a big brain ;)
Some other stats:
- Jack is crawling...everywhere! I thought that it would never happen...but, all of a sudden one day he just took off!
- He pulls up occasionally.
- He has 2 little tiny teeth that just popped through on the bottom. They are razor sharp!
- He always has chapped skin on his cheeks from all of the drooling and teething. I swear he has been teething and drooling for 5 months! When will it end?!
- He smiles and laughs ALL of the time.
- He has learned how to scream really loudly (so loudly that it makes your eardrums vibrate) when he's mad (he's starting to show a temper...we're going to have to fix that :) )
- He loves solid food...but, still prefers the bottle I think.
- He has started to recognize the difference between strangers and people that are familiar to him. He was SO scared of the doctor when he came in to do the check-up. I have never seen him act this way before...he reached out for me and started crying (so sweet!)
- He really enjoys playing with the other babies (and watching the older kids play) at our playgroup.
- He knows what the word "no" means. If I say "no" and look at him...he stops what he's doing...looks at me...and starts laughing! It's hard for me not to start laughing...it's cute!
- He has outgrown his car seat. We will have to buy a new one very soon. It's amazing how fast he grows out of things!
- He has gotten a lot of blonde hair...looks like he'll be a blondie....at least while he's little.

I remember someone telling me that one of the hardest parts of being a parent is not laughing at the cute wrong behavior they do.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear his checkup went well. Also surprised to hear that 28" is under 50%. what did the dr. say about him outgrowing his car seat? I thought you had to keep babies in the backwards facing carseat until age 1. You still have 3 long months.
Yes, you are right...they say you should keep them rear facing until 20 lbs...or 1 year...whichever comes first. However, they say that the longer that you can keep them rear facing...the better!
ReplyDeleteSo, we are getting a Britax car seat that can go rear facing from 5-40 lbs. and forward facing up to 70 lbs. Had I know a car seat like this existed...I would have gotten one of these in the first place (and skipped the infant carrier)! This way, we can leave him rear facing for another year or so at least just to be on the safe side.
Hope that you are doing well. When are you heading back to work?
I head back a week from tomorrow :( so sad. He's just starting to get predictable and fun with his coos and smiles.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to look up that car seat now. Though I've been enjoying my graco 35 and indigo stroller combo.
That's what we have too...a Graco Snugride 35...also, have I ever told you about www.albeebaby.com? They have the BEST prices on baby gear that I've found anywhere...and FREE shipping! The Britax seats on there are at least $100 cheaper than Babies R Us!
